Yield Curve

The curve that can be plotted showing yield to maturity versus term to maturity for a range of bonds issued by a government or company. Yield Curves are normally positive slopping to reflect the increased risks associated with lending over longer terms. However, yield curves may flatten or invert ahead of an expected economic slowdown or if investors anticipate a debt restructuring by a company.
